Calvary can help you exercise good stewardship in all your decisions about giving.

Why give

Calvary believes that giving is not a law to be obeyed but a matter of the heart. And our hearts should be focused on God, not ourselves. When we hold on to our resources for our own benefit, our focus naturally turns inward--we are saving, protecting, accumulating just for ourselves.

When our focus turns toward God, the importance of “having” diminishes and our desire to give generously grows. Our giving should be without compulsion, freely offered and with a cheerful heart.

How much to give

In the Old Testament (before Jesus), God teaches the Israelites to tithe, give 10 percent of their income. In the New Testament (after Jesus), there is no command regarding specific giving amounts, though almost every example involves people giving beyond 10 percent--even very far beyond!

Consider the amount you give without compulsion but with prayer and discernment.
 

How gifts are used

All of the many ministries of Calvary are made possible by the faithful, generous giving of people like you. Each year's budget is reviewed and approved at the Calvary Annual Meeting, which occurs in the fall. This budget includes ministry support, mission giving and operational expenses.

How to give 

No matter how you manage your finances, you'll find a convenient, effective way to give to Calvary. Consider:

Pledging

Calvary asks our members to estimate their giving for the coming year. Not only does pledging help with Calvary's budgetary process, but it also encourages us to plan our giving, that we might offer our first fruits as the Bible suggests and not just give whatever is left over. Make a pledge>>

Online/credit card contributions

Debit or credit card transactions can be set-up as a one-time contribution or on a regular, ongoing basis. To give by debit or credit card:
* Call Lois Palmquist at 763.231.2985 to set up the transaction(s).
     --OR--
* Give online--make sure to read the instructions first! 

You have the option of setting up automatic transactions (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) or scheduling an e-mail reminder to make your contribution.

Still want to participate in Calvary's weekly offering? Print off online giving slips to include in your envelopes.

 

Automatic withdrawal

To arrange to make an automatic withdrawal from your checking account:
* Call Lois Palmquist at 763.231.2985 to set up the transaction(s).
     --OR--
* Complete a Simply Giving enrollment form and submit it to Calvary (Simply Giving is sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans).
     --OR--
* Set up automatic withdrawal online--make sure to read the instructions first!

Offering envelopes

Every worship service at Calvary features a time to give our offerings. Need envelopes in which to offer your cash gifts, checks or online giving slips? Contact Lois Palmquist by

Stock

There are two ways you can give stock to Calvary:

* Gift the stock through your broker - Contact Jerry Gates at 763.231.2974 for the electronic transfer information necessary to complete the transaction.
     --OR--
* Provide the stock certificate - Bring the stock certificate to Calvary with a letter indicating your intentions. The letter must be signed by all persons named on the certificate and their signature(s) must match the name(s) as shown. Also complete a stock power document provided by Calvary.

By gifting stock to Calvary, you will avoid any capital gains tax and enjoy the tax benefits of transferred stock. Upon your gift, Calvary will sell the stock to avoid the capital gains tax.

Endowment Funds

Calvary Endowment Funds enable individuals to contribute to Calvary beyond their lifetimes. Any size of gift is appreciated and can be appropriated for general ministry or a number of special purposes. Learn more>>
