imageOur toddler program is geared for children ages 16 months through 32 months. During this age stage, children are curious about the world around them. Our classroom, equipment and curriculum are designed to:

* Support their safe exploration.

* Build their motor skills.

* Improve their coordination.

Curriculum

Our goal is for your toddler to experience an atmosphere where he/she feels feel safe and secure ... and also develops in independence and social competence. In turn, we feature:

 

    * Learning Centers that offer blocks, puzzles, creative art and a wide variety of books.

    * Dedicated teachers who: 
     - Recognize your toddler's growing need for independence and emerging sense of self. 
     - Emphasize social growth through circle times, stories and songs.
     - Encourage self-help skills, including washing hands, picking up toys and sharing.
     - Help develop your toddler's gross-motor activity through climbing, running and jumping.   

 

Schedule

Your toddler's day at Calvary Hourly Childcare entails:

         9 to 10 a.m. - Free-choice time (toddlers and preschoolers together)
       Focuses on exposure to new interests and materials (e.g., Playdough, sensory table,
       puzzles, pegboards, dramatic play, blocks).

       10 to 10:10 a.m. - Snack & prayer 
       Develops your child's good health habits, independence in personal care, manners and 
       language skills. Snacks and milk are provided.

       10:10 to 10:15 a.m. - Group time 
       Includes stories and activities through which your toddler can practice listening and 
       language skills. Concepts are introduced through flannelgraphs.

        10:15 to 10:30 a.m. - Set-up/transition

        10:30 to 11 a.m. - Art 
       Involves one-on-one time with the teacher at the art table to create a project.

       11 to 11:15 a.m. - Set-up/transition

         11:15 to 11:30 a.m. - Music & movement 
       Encourages expression through the singing of songs, finger plays, and body movement   
       and rhythm activities.

       11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Lunch 
       Develops your toddler's social skills as he/she eats with friends. Bring a bag lunch from 
       home; milk is provided.

       12:30 to 1 p.m. -Free-choice time 
       Includes puzzles and manipulatives at the tables.

       1 to 2 p.m. - Large-muscle time 
       Features time at our outdoor playgrounds or indoor playrooms when the weather is cold.  
       Climbers, scooters, balls and other large-muscle activities are available.

       2 to 2:15 p.m. - Snack & story time
       Involves listening to a story while eating a snack.

       2:15 to 3 p.m. - End-of-day activity
       Features book reading and table activities.
