In their book Fearless Parenting: How to Raise Faithful Kids in a Secular Culture, the authors don’t mince words; we live in a "morally bankrupt culture" that requires parents’ intentionality and consistency in addressing big issues like technology, materialism and pornography. The key is to shed our own fears in the midst of these issues. By recognizing that we don’t know all the answers and by leaning with confidence on biblical wisdom, we can chart a course for raising kids who love God and continue to grow in relationship with Jesus. 2nd Floor: N207

Gifted to Serve

Do I have a spiritual gift?

You are a child of God, created for good works.  You have been grafted into His family through Jesus'blood.  His Holy Spirit is alive in you.  Every Christian has at least one spiritual gift:  "As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God"  (1 Peter 4:10 NASB).

What is a spiritual gift?

A spiritual gift is a special ability given by the Holy Spirit and distributed to each believer according to God's design and grace for the common good of the Body of Christ.  Spiritual gifts include teaching, administration, helping, mercy, encouragement, leadership and many others: "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all people" (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)

When you are living for Christ in the right place at the right time for the right reason, your faithfulness and fruitfulness will be overflowing!  You will be filled with joy, and God will be glorified!  You will be in God's holy anoited "zone!"

Gain more insight on your God-given calling and how to start fulfilling it now!  Join us for one or both of the following courses below.  (More class times/dates will be offered in the Spring.)

Sunday Bible Study on Galatians

COMING -- Jan 6 - Feb 24, 2019

9 & 10:30 a.m., N205

Led by Marcy Zakeer and Gary Clark, along with Bruce Nelson and Holly MccFarland

Starting on Jan 10, 2019, Pastor Zach will be presenting a sermon series on the Book of Galatians.  In conjunction with a this weekly message series, there will be an opportunity to participate in a short-term (7-week) small group study,  as well as a Bible study on the deeper aspects of the text each week which are not able to be covered during the sermons.

So, there will be three ways to participate and to dig into the Book of Galatians!  Your choice!

  • Listen to to the weekly messages in this series on the weekend
  • Attend the Sunday Bible study on 2nd floor to gain more understanding of  Galatians
  • Join a 7-week long small group study to find ways to apply Galatians to your own life.

Why study the book of Galatians?  According to Tim Keller's Galatians:  Gospel Matters reminds us how the "Galatian church was torn between the view that their efforts saved them, and the Gospel, which told them that it was Christ's work, not theirs, that mattered.  The choice still confronts us today making this a hugely relevant and exciting book to study."

For more information, contact Pastor Carol Skjegstad at 763.231.2983 to via email.
